I usually use vscode, but for maintenance on servers with ssh login, I often use nano or vi.
We use what's there, basically :-)

Please reconsider doing this, as the binary supplied by microsoft is proprietary software and almost certainly chock full of malicious features: https://code.visualstudio.com/License/
There is a 3rd party build that isn't proprietary called VSCodium: `git clone https://github.com/VSCodium/vscodium`
Even so, I would recommend against using such, as it took only a quick glance of the vscode source to spot the JavaScript and the multiple pinned versions of isEven - thus putting you at huge security risk.
Please consider using a real editor instead, like; nano, emacs, vim or ed.
