There was some merit in saying "growth shouldn't be your goal" when the #fediverse was much smaller, but the way that's morphed into "don't self-promote and just be a person" is simply not how people use social media. Creators are the backbone of EVERY social network, and it must be the case that people can try to use their skills to make a living here.

It is, in fact, virtuous to try to escape the cycle of letting rich corps take your work. We should help those people, not push them away.

ちょっと色んな投稿を見ていて引っかかったのは、twitterは無料で使えるサービスだから仕方ないみたいな考えです。

僕が気になるのは、無料なら仕方ないかではなくて、そもそも無料というほど無料なのかというところ。

広告があるのもそうですが、ポイント系のサービスをはじめとして最近のアプリを使ったサービスの多くは利用者の許可を形式的に得つつも、事実上、無意識のうちに位置情報や検索に用いた単語など様々な情報を回収し、他のビジネスに利用・販売しているわけです。本来なら、微々たるものとはいえ、利用者がお金を得てしかるべきものしょう。（大学の心理実験のちょっとしたアンケートに協力した時だってうまい棒を一本もらえましたよw）

これは、個人の細かな情報が自動的に回収できる技術と装置があるからこそ可能となったビジネスであって、これまでの感覚で無料と思う必要はないのではないでしょうか。

さらに言えば、ポイントというお金のようで、事実上、販促の道具で還元したように見せかけるのではなく、せめて、情報を回収する企業だけでなく、吸い上げられたユーザーが自分のデータだけでも回収して解析できるようにしたり、そこまで出来ないユーザー向けに役立つような解析結果を提供するサービス開発に力をいれたりする責任があるのではないかと思います。

I've read many requests to add Mastodon links to GitHub profiles for verification and discovery purposes.

My team is working on allowing you to add a number of social profile links, but given upcoming holiday vacations, it won't ship until the new year. We don't want to rush something out at the potential cost of disrupting what is generally a quiet time for our engineers.

Ordinarily, I wouldn't talk about in progress work on social media, but y'all seem like you can keep a secret.
