接続の効率化ですが、Mastodonでは他のサーバへの接続を一定数・一定時間維持して、使い回すようになっています。

これにより、そうしなかった場合と比較してかなり高効率の処理を実現しています。

また、IPv6の取り扱いの改善もあります。

今回の変更でWebFingerもこの仕組みを利用可能になります。

#fedibird masterで、Goldfinger gemを取り除いて、本体の一部として実装する変更がありました。

Fedibirdでは、今朝方この変更を適用しました。

Goldfingerは、WebFingerというプロトコルをサポートするgemで、Mastodonと共にEugenさんが書き下ろしたものです。

簡単に言うと、@user@example.com形式のアカウント表記から、アカウント情報を取得するURIを得るための仕組みです。

一時はOStatusとActivityPubの両方をカバーする都合もあって複雑だったところもあるのですが、既にOStatusサポートが不要になっていること、gemにカプセル化することで、Mastodon本体で行っているHTTPリクエストの最適化などが適用できないことがあり、本体側にコードを移し替えることになりました。

ざっくりいうと、これにより、接続が効率化され、タイムアウトするサーバが少なくなることが期待されています。

@blank71 any add on on Pawoo not available on vanilla Mastodon? Also seems the maintainance is still active?

@Sujiyan I don't hear such a thing about pawoo, but I don't know the real situation... Pawoo is not a vanilla mastodon and upgrade to v2.9.4 in 08/26.

@Sujiyan they forked it a long time ago I know they have implemented patches from upstream a number of times.

Another question is - Pawoo is still at v 2.9.4. Is pawoo users feeling uncomfortable or buggy? (I know Definitely it’s not a good example, just curious)

We will upgrade the mastodon version of JP to the latest stable ver. I personally don’t really ‘maintain’ too much of the lovely environment here but we will keep the Infrastructure updated.
