There's a new feature being tested on #Mastodon, it puts featured hashtags on your profile page while logged in, see the screenshot below for an example.

When you click on a featured hashtag, it filters the profile timeline to show that account's posts which use that particular tag.

Featured hashtags have been in Mastodon for a while, but few people noticed them because you couldn't see them while logged in (unless you opened the public version of a profile in a new tab).

This new approach makes the featured tags visible and practical.

The feature is currently still in testing on mastodon.online and mastodon.social. Hopefully it should become available on more servers once it's released.

You can add up to ten featured hashtags, by going to Edit Profile > Featured Hashtags. Enter the tags one at a time, and don't use # or it will cause an error message.

👏 Thank you to for headsup about this new feature!

@feditips @tagomago Like the new featured tags selector? I am the implementer of this feature.

This function is arranged by Eugen's idea. The list of featured tags will move to the trending tag position on the bottom right.

I personally think it's better to have it displayed all the time like it is now, but it seems that it was decided that it should be more inconspicuous.

That's coherent with the remote view, but it will also get a bit out of sight (and invisible on mobile).
