"No," Mordred said when Arthur grinned at him. "Don't make the 'knight order' joke again."

"Aww, it's funny," Arthur replied, not at all dejected. They were having a good day even if it wasn't what they'd expected.

Being asked to help out in town meant helping at the bistro and while both had expected dishes, they were instead taking customer orders.

Mordred was even pretty good at it. Arthur mostly just smiled and did his best. They'd both learned a lot, actually.

And had been promised dessert, too.

Reyna seldom had guests at her place. It was probably the location, or maybe it was just bad luck.

But there was no turning it around, she realized. Soon, she was sure, the whole place would be a parking lot or a strip mall.

There wasn't anywhere to go, however. She couldn't just up and leave.

Maybe someone would try to move her? To where, though? And still forgotten...

But in the end, they moved the stones and not the bodies.

Reyna had guests again.

And she flattened all of their tires with truly malicious glee.

Edgar didn't like it, but he needed the money.

That's how he ended up driving the truck and not asking questions.

He was pretty good at that, really. He could drive the truck and not ask questions.

His night vision was good, and he had the licenses he needed...

He pretended he hadn't seen a line reading 'organs' on his paperwork. Edgar just needed the address.

It was the middle of the night when he pulled up at a farmhouse.

He didn't ask...

...he just delivered the pair of fancy electric pianos to the pale folks waiting.

Even if I don't manage to write anything for the ~handful of prompts I see daily here on Fedi, I do tend to jot them down with notes.

I suppose this will just be a thread of belated prompt-answer short fiction?

"It's only chewy and gamey if you don't cook it correctly," Ricky explained. "The flavor is actually fairly mellow, unseasoned, and will almost melt in your mouth."

The group of knights were quiet and Ricky wasn't sure if they were imagining their future feast or thinking he was quite mad.

He'd never made them a bad meal! They knew that!

Was it that they'd never seen Ricky with a sword instead of a cleaver?

Ricky just smiled. For wyvern meat, he'd happily wield his sword. At least until he needed his cleaver.

And just a pinch of salt.

Verna set her quill aside and leaned back. That was the last copy she'd needed to make of her most popular spell and she was ready for a break.

Written in her hand, it was one of her most potent, too.

But, popular and potent didn't mean it was one that Verna particularly cared for. There were others she preferred that did far more interesting things...

The one that got stuck drawers free was actually her favorite. Verna thought it was one of her more useful, too.

Maybe she could offer it on sale some time. Free potato masher with purchase...
