Thinking about AI again.
Yesterday, the AI-powered bird-ID thing my mom gave me detected what it identified as a scarlet ibis.
Now I have a couple options. I can say, hey, this AI has seen a lot more birds than I have, so if it says one of the two national birds of Trinidad and Tobago stopped to eat in my backyard, so be it. Or I can look at the photo and say, well that there’s a cardinal.
You have to already know stuff to know the AI is wrong. But no one is going to treat it that way.

You can do as you choose in your space. I just was not expecting to see that term tossed around casually and kneejerk-reacted.
I've read the essay and yes, they are using it with the same intent that I see chuds spewing it. They could be using other terms but have chosen an exceptionally-loaded one with a vile use-history.
"Tourist" in this definition is heavily used in bigoted, alt-right, gamergate-type circles. It's a vile dogwhistle and on any other socmed, an insta-block for a lot of people.

Saw some text online that made me want to turn it into signage. What good are graphic design skills if you can't have a little fun with them.😜
When Anna moved to town, she refused to listen to her neighbors and their 'silly stories' about things.
She walked where she wanted, including through the cemetery, and stared long and hard at a statue decorated with strands of glass beads.
They were wasted on stone, she thought, and took a strand and jammed it in her pocket.
Anna never spoke of that night but she returned the beads the next day and added strands regularly after.
She listened to all the stories, too, and made sure any new residents knew...
The 'silly stories' truly weren't.
