@thor The word “hashtag” has been around for a seemingly long time. I would have imagined that by now some word would already have been established in the vernacular.
Fwiw, the Japanese language simply transliterates it to, “has’shyutag’goo”. I’m not sure if there is a committee to decide these things, or if everyone just goes with what’s trendy among highschool girls.
Sometimes there are top-down inventions like the “maïnanbaäkaädo” [My Number Card], despite the existence of a word for “social security.”
