SETI Researchers Just Got a $200 Million Gift to Search for Life
Unfortunately they only have access to fairly limited amounts of Government funding so rely heavily on philanthropic donations.
One such fabulously generous donation has come from the estate of Franklin Antonio, the co-founder of communications chip Qualcomm.

I'd say "fortunately SETI researchers only have access to fairly limited amounts of Government funding" because it seems to be a futile & pointless project given the slow evolution of sophisticated life & lightspeef/distance limitations.
This $200M could have been used far better on the environment, helping poor countries or public health. Giving it to the Bill & Melinda Gayes foundation would have been good.
