@wzqtparor The KMT doesn't have in their history a "Great Leap Forward", a Cultural Revolution and everything else that resulted in 20-60 million people killed like the CCP though, so I don't think that they are worse. I understand that they were not good either, but an anti-communist dictatorship is always going to be less bloody and psychotic than a communist government.
That being said, maybe things would have been very different. Unlike with the CCP, there was a long term goal for democracy in the KMT, maybe after the war and without the threat of communism, they would have been able to focus on the development of the country and doing what's best for the people. Maybe China would have a system similar to modern day Taiwan but much earlier than the 90s.
What do you wish had happened? Do you think overthrowing the monarchy was a good thing? Was there any hope for a stable democratic republic to come from the 1911 Revolution? What do you think of Sun Yat-sen?
