The Donald Keene Center of Japanese Culture at Columbia University awarded this year’s Japan-United States Friendship Commission Prize to Prof. Kendall Heitzman for his translation of Kaori Fujino’s Nails and Eyes (Pushkin Press, 2023). A number of our alums are familiar with Fujino-san; she participated in the UI’s International Writing Program in the fall of 2017 and worked closely with students in the translation class that year!
Congratulations, Professor Heitzman!!! We are so proud of you and honored to be part of your life!
