The coordinated lobbying push ramped up in the past few weeks, as the Biden administration seeks to leverage its support for Ukraine to strengthen its primary foreign policy goal - the containment of China - despite Russia's ongoing war in Europe
That concerted lobbying effort comes ahead of today's summit of Nato foreign ministers in Bucharest, where China is a key topic. But some European capitals are resisting a tougher approach to Beijing & others are anxious about any distraction from lending support to Kyiv
But the US says Nato agreed this summer to label China a "challenge", and its European partners should back that up with action
