This wildflower has an unfortunate name in Japan, even though it is so small and lovely.
'O-inu-no-fuguri'
This means big dog's scrotum...poor thing, right?
🐕 ͗ ͗✨ 🌕🌕
They say it's because the shape of the fruit of this flower resembles that of a dog. omg...
But I love this flower!!😂

@mikako6
Here we call it speedwell. I love these little flowers too!
I'm glad you also love this flower.
These flowers fall off as soon as you touch them.
Such a fragile part of them is also attractive!
@mikako6
Also, it looks like the white flowers are what we call chickweed. If so, it's good to eat.
Oh, I didn't know that!
I think that the English names of plants are often more endearing.
Thank you! ✨😊
@mikako6
I enjoy learning the Japanese names. Thanks for posting all of your nice pictures!
My pleasure.
I’m so glad! 🙏😊
@mikako6
In german this is called "Ehrenpreis" which means "Honour price" or "Honour praise"
(I can't tell, because it's written similar)
But what a difference, huh? 😄
@mikako6 i will never look at speedwell the same again 🤣 💙
@moonrabbit
ha ha! Sorry, Lily! 😂🙏
@mikako6 These are lovely, in swedish they are called tea Veronica if I am not misstaken.
That is a lovely sounding name, nicer than the Japanese one!
Thank you for sharing the Swedish flower names! 🥰🙏✨
@mikako6 Thank you for sharing your nice photos 🥰
I had a good laff just now - got out of bed, drinking coffee and thought I saw
'Oni-no-fuguri' == 鬼の陰嚢
The troll's bollox.
@tuban_muzuru
😂 The 鬼〜ogre's one is bigger than the dog's one.
@RiversideBryan
Thank you!
Good night, Bryan!
Blue is a rare colour among plants and animals, and I totally understand your love for this flower.
I don't see the semblance with a dog's naughty bits, though.
Thank you,Mina!
As you say, blue is indeed rare and beautiful in nature.
When this flower turns into fruit, it will look like this. 😭
I feel sorry for them being called strange names, but they do look a bit like them.

Now I see, where it got its name from. 🤣
However, you also might see a ❤️ in it.
Look at this flower ("Tränende Herzen" = "crying hearts", also existing in red):
How beautiful!
Thank you, Mina✨🥰
@mikako6 it’s the dogs bollocks
