Most of all, we need to let go of this notion that open web = okay for commercial companies to scrape, ingest, and train their models.
If I wanted to open an English school, I would have opened a school to teach the English language. But I didn't.
I have a website, which is free to read, but my copyrighted material is mine and shouldn't serve as the foundation of any other commercial product.
I wish more people would understand this concept.
From Nigeria: An Anime Community At Its Brightest Yet: Bolaji Akinwande explores Nigeria's anime fan community. He explores the fandom's growth, particularly in recent years, which has been aided by the growth of streaming services like Netflix, as well as the rise of anime-centric online spaces.

Us internet people have a terrible habit of thinking we're in communities when we're actually just in scenes.
They are not the same thing, but the platforms providing them would like you to think they are.
fellow AO3 writers, there's a new bot saying shitty things in people's comments, but now it attaches real AO3 usernames! If you see a username with (Guest) attached, it's not really that person. Mark the comment as spam. https://www.tumblr.com/avaantares/753633258505420800/yet-another-ao3-bot-situation-please-spread-the
On Saturday we went to an early Juneteenth celebration at Montpelier, the home of former US president James Madison. In Madison's time, Montpelier was also home to hundreds of enslaved people, many of them now buried in unmarked graves. Today, the descendants of the enslaved are full partners in running Montpelier as a historic site and museum. A libation ceremony honoring dead ancestors was a part of Saturday's activities.

32-page minizine -- 60 critters (the ones recently posted on Lone Knight) and 60 short NPC descriptions (or character inspirations or whatever) --
My stapling job is laughably off-centre and I should probably have tried to fix it before taking pictures but oh well, lol
I'll try to post up the pdf(s) some time today or tonight, I need to go yell about some things atm (nothing bad) --

I just deployed a Mastodon bot that posts forecasts for the most dangerous upcoming heatwaves
You can follow it at
To determine how dangerous a heatwave is, it uses wet-bulb temperature, which is the temperature that a body can be cooled to by evaporation
Sweating works to cool you because generally the wet-bulb temperature is lower than body temperature
As wet-bulb temperature increases and approaches body temperature, people can no longer cool themselves by sweating and will die

In the Edo period the custom of 'Kajō-gashi' (嘉祥菓子) spread from the imperial court to the samurai class.
The day was renamed 'Kashōchodai' (嘉祥頂戴) and the traditions were turned upside down. The shōgun would present sweets to the daimyō (大名) and his household staff.
An official document of 1818 states that 20,000 individual sweets were prepared in Edo Castle (江戸城) for this single day!
Guests queued for hours to receive their sweets.
One by one, their projects exploded in sharp little fiery bursts, just as they were supposed to.
Marci took a deep breath as Caleb's exploded beside her, and then she quickly dumped in the last grains of powder...
Her project exploded in a rainbow of colored flame and whistling sound before sparkling as it faded to ash and smoke.
At the front of the class, Mx. Thorn cleared their throat.
"A note in the margin," Marci said quickly. "I just wanted to see..."
"I understand," Mx. Thorn replied, smiling. "I had that copy when I was a student."
In fact, here is the next client - a kind of gronky Applejack. You can see the tangles in her tail and the faint dirt sheen. I think she got picked up at a sale or given to me; I don't think she's from my childhood.
She has some tampo damage to her one eye; dunno if I'm going to try to fix that or not.
