Went back outside and took both video and stills of the birds. Video later after editing and processing. I'm pleased with these chickadee images.

Magic can keep a castle flying, protect crops from failure, stop plagues. Magic can do anything.
And even when magic does not solve a problem at once, you can always use more magic to fix whatever was left to fix. Enough magic can do anything.
But then, when do you stop extending the castle? Which crops do you protect? where do you stop the plague?
With enough magic, Wizards can do anything.
The question is: what *will* Wizards use magic for?
Well that was an easy festive family tech support ticket:
Problem: USB flash drive was not working.
Diagnosis: that's not a USB flash drive. That is the dongle for your mouse.
Solution: here's a USB flash drive.

There we go! 1100 fairly fluffy words of second prince wooing dragon librarian with books and letters~
Nicolas and Ras come from over here:

"Not bad," Nicolas said as he looked Ras over. "We should be on our way."
He still couldn't believe he had convinced Elisaley's Royal Librarian to leave the library, though it was half in the name of books. And as second prince, he could have ordered Ras to accompany him, but...
"You've promised books," Ras reminded him.
"A date at the holiday market, including books," Nicolas corrected, laughing. He had enough silver coins in his pockets to buy the whole stall he'd heard about, if needed.
"Fine," Ras replied.
And every coin was well spent.
'Star Fox' character designer Takaya Imamura expressed his appreciation for the unofficial 'Star Fox 64' PC port.

For the briefest of moments, Lyner thought he was in the wrong place. But no, it was his... It was just clean and it smelled good.
That could mean only one thing and Lyner smiled as he pulled off his boots.
"Ayatane?"
"Welcome home," Ayatane replied from the kitchen. "I didn't have anything else to do today, so..."
Lyner wasn't about to complain. Just having Ayatane there was more than enough. The clean home and the tasty feast waiting on the table were a bonus.
He'd thank Ayatane properly.
Later that night.

Peale slowed his pace as the path narrowed and the tree cover began to dim the midday light.
He had only the most vague description of the monster he was hunting; he'd brought both his favorite sword and plenty of catalysts for strong spells.
And as he ventured further from the light and the known, into the dreary and thick heavy underbrush, Peale kept his guard up.
He would find the monster and he would do whaever he needed to.
The light of day would wait for him; he was far better at this sort of dark thing anyway.

Mino stretched and thanked her neighbor again before slipping around her table and heading off to finish browsing as much of the book fair as she could.
She'd already bought all the books she absolutely needed, along with a few little goodies and some abstract-patterned stationery.
But that didn't mean there might not be surprises waiting!
Three tables later she had more books and new friends and still two more aisles to go. She was absolutely surprised!
And thrilled!
(And discovered a new ship, too!)
Weatta looked from the order she'd been handed, back to the knight who'd brought it, and then to the order again.
She had already begun to prepare for the holiday market, despite it being months away, but...
What she held was a royal order for her work!
She knew the colorful lantern being described; she remembered selling it to a handsome young man.
But she hadn't realized that had been the second prince!
"I'll be on my way," the knight finally said, not hiding her amusement.
"And I'll get to work," Weatta replied, smiling as well.
Comary walked through the still of the night, their feet making no sound in the fresh white snow. The bitter wind of the evening had ceased and the sky had cleared, though Comary paid no heed to the stars sparkling in the ink-dark sky.
They did not pause in their duty; they would not-
There was a sound, faint, and Comary paused.
The snow crunched beneath their feet and the wind ruffled their wings as they sought the source.
And as they tucked the striped kitten into their heavy white robes, Comary looked to the endless sky and smiled.
"That one," Matari said softly as they pointed at a short, squat pot with a vibrant blue glaze and a matching lid with a little loop of a handle.
"That one?" The potter seemed surprised but nodded and reached for it. Around them, the holiday market was crowded and noisy. But in Matari's presence, there was a strange calm.
"I'm glad," the potter continued. "Nobody ever seems to see it."
Matari smiled; this was clearly the pot they'd been waiting for. They reached for their coins to pay...
"I'm sorry that I've taken this long to retrieve it."
I was a jailer for two years. Not proud of it, I needed the money.
One of the repeat offenders we had was an old man who was HIV positive. He went to jail several times while I was working there and always for the same thing. He would shoplift items from a store while in full view of a cop. This old man had a cane and could barely walk. There was no way he expected to get away with it.
After he was arrested we had to process him and the medical questions always led back to his HIV diagnosis. The state provided him with his HIV medication while he was awaiting trial where he always pleaded guilty. He was always released after serving less than 60 days pretrial. Upon release, he was given six months worth of his HIV medications (which he needed to survive) and he would shoplift again when he ran out of medication.
It would have been cheaper for the state to just give him the medications without him needing to be part of the criminal justice system first.
He was shoplifting so he could stay alive.
