(9/5, temporal)
Kaela pulled off her robes as soon as she closed the door.
"Another temporal rift," she said flatly. "It's closed, but this is getting exhausting."
Willow looked up from the book she'd been studying. "Another one?" she asked. "That's three this week."
"This week?" Kaela questioned. "That was the fourth today."
"That was last week?" Willow frowned and looked over at her notes and the dates she'd been scribbling in one column. They were far from sequential.
Kaela sighed. "When do you think it is?"
"Past time to end this."
(Oct 27, contraction, Atelier Online)
Rose Hip frowned as he looked over the recipe that he'd been handed. He knew a few of the abbreviations and contractions listed, but some of the others...
"The assignment is to use all our resources to figure it out," Sorel explained.
"You're one of our best ones," Anise added. The other two nodded and after a moment, Rose Hip nodded as well.
"Let's see what we can figure out."
The student alchemists had already helped him beyond imagining, after all.
And he was curious what this recipe would make.
(MastoPrompt 8/15 Doubt)
"Help yourself to the cookies, if you'd like," Jamey said as he opened the cupboard and put his wood box of teabags away. He'd chosen a pair of one of his favorites; hopefully his guest would agree.
He had a small carton of cream and a jar of sugar, and he'd grabbed two of his nicer mugs.
Now he just had to wait, and that was the hardest part. His guest was not touching the cookies...
But Jamey was doing his best. He'd been confronted by the Specter of Doubt and had done the only thing he could think of-
He'd offered it tea.
Miranda raised an eyebrow as she ducked her horns to cross the cottage's threshold.
"Cursed, not haunted," she said quickly. She dealt more with the lingering than the truly malicious, but it mattered not. She'd been called and she would do the work.
"Cursed?" the new owner repeated.
Miranda grinned a fangy grin. "Now, to find its origin."
"But why would someone-"
"I can't answer that," Miranda interrupted. "I am only being paid to remove it."
"Oh... But what if I paid you to..."
Miranda grinned again, still fangy.
"That I can do."
I don’t mind admitting that as of late, I have developed a crush on BIC Camera’s mascot character for their Akihabara store, so, ah, please follow her on social media or whatever.
Lark paused before unlocking the shop's door for the day. Something felt off but they weren't sure what.
"Lark?"
"Just a moment," Lark replied to the shop's owner. Carefully they reached up to snag one of the many charms that hung above the door and pulled it down.
It shattered in their hands, its job done.
Lark wasted no time in fetching a new one and checking over all the other charms and the wards on the shop.
Something had been intercepted and repelled, but Lark couldn't help thinking it would return.
Lark unlocked the door, ready.
Grandparents bring their grandchildren to play in the great West #Ward fountain pool. At the center, water shoots high in the air, sprinkling down like rain.
"Mikele's blessing," the grandparents whisper, marking the children's heads w/the water.
40 years ago, Mikele the Bold broke free of a deadly police beating here. Crying, "We'll make a better world!" he collapsed in the pool, his blood turning its water pink.
It's believed his courage persists in the water.
