"Reach in," the witch said as she held out the velvet sack. "Whatever you pull out is what you need."
Jodie wasn't entirely sure about this. She didn't think she needed anything. But she'd been curious and paid her coin and maybe there was something...
Closing her eyes, Jodie reached into the sack. Though it had looked heavy and full, there was surprisingly only one object inside.
She closed her hand around it and pulled it out.
The witch just smiled as Jodie opened her hand. There on her palm...
...well, Jodie laughed.
She'd needed that.
"Not yet!" Leanna cried as she reached for the demon she'd summoned as he stepped back towards his circle.
"The time has passed," he said softly. "I cannot stay."
"But look..."
There, in the hourglass set at the edge of the array, a single grain of sand sat snagged on some minor imperfection.
The demon considered this before nodding. Rules were rules and exceptions were exceptions. Both were complicated.
"Where were we?" he asked.
Leanna smiled and gestured back toward her yarn stash.
"We were debating what to do with the purple."

Guys...
I'm at a loss.
This floofy girl is the sweetest thing on four paws.
NEVER had a cat that just wanted to chill with me like this.
My sister just found some hidden surveillance devices pointed at the beds at the vacation rental she's staying at.
So stay safe and always check for creeps my friends.
"So what's your point?" Melody asked flatly. The conversation was going nowhere, but it was at least giving them something to do.
"My point," Hoyt began, before his eyes went wide. "Duck!"
He shoved Melody down beneath the edge of the wall just as a volley of arrows came flying. Melody was fine, but Hoyt...
Oh, he was not winning this one by dying! Melody could hear the soldiers below and took a deep breath.
One little resurrection wouldn't exhaust her too badly.
A moment later, Hoyt was just staring at her.
"Your point?" Melody insisted.
The rain had started before Griffon arrived at the market and all the little stalls without roofs and vendors who just spread their wares on blankets had packed up and left already.
That would make his job more difficult, he knew, but if he was going to find what he needed anywhere in the town, it would be at this market.
Those who remained sold a mix of food and household goods, mostly. Not what Griffon was after. Not what-
He saw it suddenly, glittering deep beneath an awning despite the rain.
"That one," he said quickly. "That one."
David hadn't even seen the fuel light pop on and was pretty sure his companion must've had a few words with someone to even let a vehicle off base without it having been topped up.
That meant there was likely a full little gas-can in the back to be discovered...
"Looks like it's just the two of us," Dead End said with a smile, not at all bothered.
David chuckled. Yeah, he could go with this, and with Dead End's mouth on his and...
No need to worry beyond that.
He wondered what else Dead End had planned for the night.

Anyone using WordPress.com to host your Anime blogs should consider moving their blogs off WordPress.com and to a self-host given that Matt can practically ruined the trust with hijacking the ACF plugin. With that, can you really trust hosting your blog on WordPress dot Com after they just hijacked a popular plugin. It’s basically a supply chain attack.
If anyone needs help moving their blog, I can help. If you don't have the technical knowledge to manage a WordPress install on a VPS or shared hosting with one-click installers, I suggest getting managed WordPress hosting since they can assist you in moving your blog, but not from Pressable.
If you are using a paid plan, you probably should wait until you are close to renewing it before moving your blog off WordPress.com.
If you move off WordPress.com, it will be possible to move to a hard fork of WordPress when one becomes viable with community support or a different platform like Ghost, etc.
Deena had nine students boarding in her old mansion near the university, an arrangement beneficial to all.
She kept them all fed and they all kept her company. Her meals were good; her orange candies legendary.
They were small and round and tasted sweet and somehow made formulas make sense and provided inspiration and were better than strong coffee.
They helped with memory and focus and even somehow made dull texts incredibly interesting.
But Deena would insist there was nothing special about them.
Her magic was quite normal, after all.

Latest update on the DDOS attack from @brewsterkahle (Oct 11 @ 10:22am PT):
"The data is safe.
Services are offline as we examine and strengthen them. Sorry, but needed. @internetarchive staff is working hard.
Estimated Timeline: days, not weeks.
Thank you for the offers of pizza (we are set)."
Rick shook his head and put a red X on the calendar. There was a little old cemetery in the industrial park in a sliver of grass between two factories, one of which Rick worked in.
He was sure he'd seen shaggy grass swaying in the summer's breeze beneath bright moonlight when he'd stepped out for a smoke earlier...
But now the sun was rising and the grass was freshly mowed, right on schedule.
Rick liked his job in the factory. And so he put a red X on the calendar every week and didn't think too hard about it.
It was better not to know.
