I recently discovered this amazing resource on how to write alt text thanks to Mastodon!
It's a great 101 explainer of what it is and how to write it, and even has a photo of a capybara with tips on it to help!
Check it out here: https://www.perkins.org/resource/how-write-alt-text-and-image-descriptions-visually-impaired/

Rheta yearned for a time long past, when her abilities would have commanded proper respect and renown.
Now, she just got odd stares as she closed her eyes and touched every piece of wood in the home improvement store. She knew, right away, what each piece should become as her fingers trailed along the grain and over knots.
Bookcase. Candlestick. Floorboard. Desk. Silly sign. Toys. Shelf. Napkin holder. Towel rack. Chair...
Rheta lingered on a nice maple Jewelry Box.
Even if she couldn't have respect or renown, she could have likes and views.
Obon Lanterns & Bonfires・お盆の灯籠とかがり火: Toriigata, the fifth of the five mountain send-off bonfires burns on the mountain, while floating lanterns on Hirosawa Pond guide the dead back home after their visit during Obon.

Addie collected her change and then tied the little charm onto the metal strap loop of her purse.
It was the sort of thing that she would have hung from her phone in decades past, part of a colorful clump that matched the ones her friends had in volume if not contents.
She paused and turned back, fishing out crumpled bills from the bottom of her purse to buy four more charms, even though...
Even though...
Five minutes later she had a message from Nina, and then Cindy, and then Lia after more than a decade!
Could they meet at Tori's grave?
"Are you sure?" Steele asked as he stood in the house's entryway and glanced around.
"We raised six children here," the man who'd hired him explained.
"And it looks it," the woman beside him added.
Steele nodded. His magic would fix every scratch and chip and gouge and mark. It would make the house as it was when they'd moved in, or possibly even better.
"Are you sure?" Steele asked again as he pressed one hand to the nearest wall and felt the house's decades within.
"Well maybe we could just paint?"
Steele nodded. He sold a lot of paint.
Daron stared, terrified, as the headmistress held up a spell he'd covertly copied out of one of the main library's big books.
They weren't supposed to do magic outside of class but nobody listened to that. Swapping interesting spells was normal!
"You've caused an impressive amount of chaos, young man," the headmistress said.
Daron winced. But how...? It was a room cleaning spell...
"Not to mention your language!" She tapped the page.
"'Tuck in the corner?'" Daron questioned.
There was silence for a long moment.
"Work on your penmanship!"
I've been very haphazard with my archiving, especially the fanfiction. ^^;; If there's a link that's not clickable that you'd like to see clickable just let me know!
I do have stuff on AO3 still, but I stopped posting there last year for various reasons. I'm also working on archiving everything from an old site I no longer have edit-access to.
It's a LOT.
I've been writing and posting online for about 22 years now and while old stuff is old, watching so much other stuff disappear just makes me want to archive it more.
Just because.
I, a person chronically allergic to self-promo, would like to very quietly mention that I have a website that I'm very slowly putting all my writing on!
https://lemonadecafe.neocities.org/
also mirrored on Dreamwidth here:

There's both original fiction and fanfiction on both; it's a little messy right now because I have a lot to archive, but I'm doing my best.
👋FAREWELL TO THE DEAD🔥
Obon (お盆) draws to a close in the next few days, and tomorrow evening families will be saying goodbye to their ancestral spirits for another year.
From 8pm fiery shapes will appear on five of Kyōto's mountains...beacons guiding the dead back to the Netherworld.

Please stop using "blindness" as a lazy synonym for "ignorance" in your writing. If there’s one thing about Blind folks: we survive and thrive by being perceptive, observing patterns and responding to cues. Not only is this use of "blindness" rude — it's uninformed. Mistaken. Obtuse. Naive. Counterfactual. There you go — five better ways to say "ignorant" than "Blind"
