Bethkari looked from the faded inventory pages in her hand to the carved stone figure nestled in a little wood box.
"Unknown idol figure, blue stone with gold flecks," she said aloud before reaching to touch it.
"Unknown," she repeated with a laugh before running her hand down the figure's front and uttering a few words in a tongue far older than box or inventory.
Beneath her hand, the figure stirred and changed, becoming far more than gold-flecked stone.
Bethkari smiled. It had all been worth it.
"They just didn't know how to wake you up."
