Remember when #facebook turned into a dumpster fire, so people migrated to Instagram because it was a nice clean experience?

Now Instagram has followed in Facebook’s steps and they’ve released the nice clean Threads; it doesn’t even have advertisements! Wonder where this is going to head once the sheep migrate

they are probably doing this for 2 main reason and some subsequent ones,

1. They want to avoid censorship accusations from politicians, thus, effectively weaponizing the #Fediverse

2. Meta had already been hammered by the american congress with their crypto stuff, so they want to avoid any anti monopoly effort that the american government may embark in the future.

If #threads succeeds the one getting hurt is #ElonMusk, not us, Meta would have way too much market.

@ozamidas @hen the US govt hasn’t tried to do anti-trust since the browser wars in the 90s. Unlikely they will start now.

considering how important social media is nowadays, i disagree.

Most importantly, the american government shot down facebooks libra, their attempt at making a criptocurrency. I think meta really wants to avoid any conflict with the american government.
