How Musk may reinvent the internet without even trying
The shift from #Twitter to #Mastodon and #ActivityPub could be an epoch-making digital revolution, comparable with the invention of the web itself. ActivityPub may restore the web and its most sophisticated layer, social media, to the open and universally connectable vision of the #internet itself.
So I understand that the bird site has started blocking links to common/known Mastodon instances, and that doesn't seem like free speech to me. So... I did a thing.
If you go to https://spacekaren.sucks it is now a URL shortener that blocks the twitter user agent. That means you can share that link that will redirect to your Mastodon account without the pouty baby stopping you. Well I’ve moved Twitter off my iPhone’s Home Screen, and replaced it with clubhouse. This app was already there 😀

Every news outlet should stand up a Mastondon instance for their reporters & staff.
It’ll be great to see GivennameFamilyname@mastodon.famousnewspaper.com or whatever domain they want to use.
Built in verification. Every reporter for the Washington Post on a washpo domain. Every reporter for the New York Times on an NYTimes domain. Etc, etc.
Plus the “local” feed for each instance becomes a feed of all the posts from that institution mixed together — providing extra discovery.
Folks, get a grip: these are just Twitter accounts. It's not like the unbalanced man-child has the power to send his enemies' cars careening off the freeway.
