That's right.
We humans want to love any plant in the same sense as insects and birds, don't we?

But the ecological issues are also important and cannot be ignored.
Speaking of things that came to Japan from abroad, white clover (Trifolium repens) and others.
Clover leaves were used as cushioning material to transport pottery and glassware by ship from Holland to Japan.
That is my favorite episode about plants.

It would be great if both white clover and other exotic species could coexist well with the local ones. 🍀🫶

That's an interesting story! We have white clover, but I don't know if it's native here. Bunnies like it!

One of the most troublesome species here is the emerald ash borer (Agrilus planipennis). It came to the US inside the wood used to make shipping crates and pallets. It's very destructive to white ash trees (Fraxinus americana). Almost all of these trees are dead or dying around here.
