“It is difficult to conclude that he consciously used "ABG" to disparage Asian women, but it would be more dangerous if it was "unconscious discrimination" by a person with a privileged identity as a white male. Jungkook himself does not seem to have been involved in writing the lyrics of the song.

Some fans have signed petitions and hashtag demonstrations demanding an apology and official statement from his label, BIGHIT MUSIC, and parent company HYBE, but no action has been taken yet by the producers.”

Thanks for highlighting this!

Anyone remember 2020?

Yoongi used a problematic snippet of Jim Jones in "What Do You Think".

After facing backlash, BH apologized, stating YG & producers didn't know why JJ is problematic, the track was rereleased without it.

In that apology, BH promised to learn from that incident and thoroughly inspect their processes for future productions.

With its Asian background, it's astounding Hybe didn't see this coming or was indifferent to it.

Yes, how could they be indifferent to this? That still blows my mind. Guess it's money over common sense.

You know, if BTS had a different history or were a US band, I'd have the same issues but what makes it IMO so much worse are two separate issues.

1st of all, BTS are Asian, have themselves experienced racism, were in the US at the UN and WH to speak out against racism. Have pushed messages of inclusiveness for years. And then this sh*t is overlooked? Cut the crap, really.

In addition, don't go around selling JK's solo work as prove of his growth, his

golden moments, how deeply involved he was in the album including song selection if your output is 7 and 3D.

There's nothing wrong with releasing songs just for the sake (and $$$) or it.

"Obladi, Oblada" by the Beatles is a classic but the lyrics are pathetic, the melody is simple, the beat ordinary.

"Horny" by Mousse T is one of my favorite dance tunes.

But neither the Beatles nor Mousse T sold a story of depth nor the songs to be a historic moment.

Many keep referencing that JK didn't write the lyrics, but sorry dude, you sang them, and included it on your album and took part in the video, therefore you sanctioned them. Birds of a feather...

It's a bit like Schroedinger's cat: He was deeply involved, put heart and soul into it and hand-selected the songs and was eager to collab w/ JH but isn't (at least co-)responsible for the content of his album ....... okaaaaaaaaaay. 🙃

trust is often misplaced and he’s probable been told this is for the american market. baptism of fire.

okay off on a tangent. I've been singing Ob-la-di, ob-la-la, life goes onnnn, braa, all morning. Earworm! 🤣🤪
