New comet discovered that will be visible in mid-October, and maybe early November.

COMET C/2024 S1 (ATLAS)

NOTE: This is not the same comet (C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS)) that is putting on a show right now in the morning sky.

I have provided two finder charts. First one is the morning of 15 Oct, which is the last morning before the full moon moves into the morning sky.

Second finder chart is for the morning of 5 November.

How bright will the comet be on 15 October? It might be fairly bright, but we only have a few days of observations. We need to monitor this.

This comet will pass very close to the sun. It may break apart and fade. At least the next two weeks should be interesting, then take it day by day.

Southern hemisphere is favored, morning sky only.
