The moon was still visible this morning, so I took a shoot. I had been disappointed that my autofocus on new Canon 100-400 mm lens didn't work when paired with a Canon 2X Extender. Then last night I remembered that I had read that it would work in live mode; so, I took this shot with the extender, essentially turning it into an 800mm lens. The only issue is that it is harder to keep the camera steady.

I stole a cup of coffee this morning before the brewing was complete. I intended to lay down on the couch after letting the dogs out; but then, I remembered the moon so took a photo and came straight into my office. Coffee was necessary.

What came to mind when I initially saw this photo was a bird sliding into home base.

At first, I thought this was a female house finch, it is the right color and there are a lot of those around. But when I started to make this post, the beak and the body markings looked slightly off so I hit with Merline's bird ID app, then looked it up in Sibley's Birds. I'm fairly certain this is a pine siskin (Spinus pinus). I've photographed a pine siskin in the forest, but this is the first one that I've noticed at my feeders.
