My daughter goes to a great semi-international school (the curriculum is half English, half Japanese), which is also a Christian school (though not the conservative hate-mongering kind), and I would like to think that just showing up in the school once in a while as an obviously transgender parent in a same-gender marriage gives hope to queer kids who have no other real-life role models and makes them think, "If she is out and happy, maybe someday I can be out and happy, too."
