Note that EG.5.1 isn't super notable in terms of specific mutations and is not even the fastest new XBB variant, but it is increasing quickly in frequency and is one to watch even if it's not expected to cause a large wave.

Again, in most places, tsunamis have not been the main issue for some time. But immune-escaping variants like Eris (EG.5.1*) and other descendants of Hyperion (XBB.1.9*), along with descendants of Arcturus (XBB.1.16*) and Kraken (XBB.1.5*) may return us to a high baseline.
